Jon-Michael Dreher, Product Manager

Bringing clarity to complexity
I’m Jon-Michael — a product manager focused on shipping with clarity, scaling with intention, and solving meaningful user problems. I’ve led platform rebuilds, launched backend tools, and delivered high-impact products in healthcare and beyond.
7 months. 4 user groups. One platform rebuilt from scratch.

Dentists. Patients. Support teams. Admins. One legacy platform, four audiences, and a 7-month ticking clock.
Unifying Admin Tools for Internal Teams
Merged three disconnected internal portals into one, intuitive admin experience.
Ran discovery sessions with support, marketing, and ops
Defined MVP scope and shipped in 6 weeks
Reduced internal support workflow time by 40%
Empowered non-technical staff to manage complex data
The problem
The platform powering our core services was running on a legacy PHP stack — and the database was scheduled to be decommissioned in just 7 months. If we didn’t rebuild in time, revenue would be directly impacted, and key user workflows would break. The system served four audiences, none of whom had been consulted in years. I had to modernize the tech, improve the UX, stay HIPAA compliant, and onboard a brand new development team — all at once.

What I did
Discovery on Two Fronts
I interviewed internal admins, support agents, and dentists to understand what they actually needed — often digging into workflows no one had formally documented. At the same time, I partnered with our designer to map the current state and highlight opportunities to simplify.Re-Architecture Planning
Collaborated with engineering to scope a phased rebuild using a modern React/Node/Azure stack. We restructured the database schema for scalability and future integrations, with compliance in mind.HIPAA Compliance from Day 1
I worked closely with legal and security teams to ensure we were compliant from the foundation up — especially around PII handling, audit trails, and access control.Team Onboarding + Product Leadership
While defining requirements and workflows, I was onboarding an entirely new dev team — providing product context, syncing on dev velocity, and creating clarity so they could move quickly without rework.Delivery Under Pressure
I prioritized ruthlessly, cutting or deferring anything that wasn’t mission-critical for the migration deadline. My goal was not just to ship — but to ship a foundation we wouldn’t regret.
Results
✅ Led the engineering team in a burning down tickets before database end of life📉 Reduced internal support tickets by ~40% through better tooling and clearer UX🔐 Launched with full HIPAA compliance🧱 Set the foundation for new features with a modular, modern architecture🚀 Got a new team up to speed and shipping in weeks, not months
